Safari12 Why are you looking for a double with no ejectors ? What about a B. Searcy PH $ 9,500 ? Of the two I would pick the Krieghoff I like the look of it better then the Merkel. There is nothing nore sexy then a double with ejectors that "Ping" is worth allot. Cheers, Andr

Andre, good point about the ejectors and actually did not know that. I am not interested in a double without ejectors. I have considered just getting a Searcy, but wanted to see what else is out there and if there are any other good options. As I mentioned above, have no idea about the Merkel as i have never shot one or even had a client hunt with one. Teal325, I might go out there and look around. one of my clients called me today and he was out there and told me to go by if I had time as well. He did tell me that he saw a 470 Merkel for sale out there, but they wanted $9,000 and for that price I would rather get a Searcy or put a down payment down for another Hyem.

Safari12 The Heym Jumbo is nice but the price I have a heym express in the .500 Jeffery and the finish is not great but it works and the action is super smooth. The B. Searcy PH is a rifle that will be worth more in the yaers to come I think. Why Krieghoff does not offer ejectors I do not know what idiots Why not get a .500 NE PH from Searcy 500 is a nice number and the you will always have enough gun. The .500 NE would be my choice Cheers, Andr

Safari- I just got back - the Krieghoff vendor stand (not the Kgun stand) has on the rack a new 470 NE like you are looking for - you could go down and look it over a bit.

Adam, Another alternative, there is a "new" William Douglas .470 for $12.5K at www.thadscott.com. Look at the "rifles" section. I have one of these and could not be happier with it. Mine was made in 1989 so modern materials etc. They are built in the traditional English mold and finished well for the price. Mine is very well regulated, ballanced and easy on the eyes. Brett

Quote: I have a .500 Searcy boxlock and it is a great rifle. The recoil is quite a bit more noticeable than a .470, but I suspect the game feels it more as well.

Have you not considered the Chapuis? I have a 9,3x74R that I like very well, and I have shot a 470. The 470 shot real good.

Adam, I do have a friend who has a very nice Box lock, ejector, .470 for sale and the price is right. If you're interested please drop me an E-mail. Or a PM.

Adam, None of the "decocking doubles" have an ejector. The kreighoff nor the Blaser. I believe that the decocking mechanism precludes installing an ejector. I for one do not like the Merkels. The fit and finish on them seems very tinny (Cheesey) and I don't like the square sights. Of all of the "lower" priced doubles the Searcy is the toughest, nicest working rifle, bar none. Fit and finish is great they're super accurate and built like a tank. I like the Krieghoff as well except for the non ejector thing and I find the safety to be a bit stiff for fast operation. They also have a bad history of "doubling". I do not no if this problem has been fixed on the later models or not.
