Sorry about that JJ. I am slipping. While you are loading up your Lott, go ahead and load up a dummy round to send to Lee Precision. I sent them a 35 Whelen, 416 Rigby, 458 Lott, and 460 Weatherby. They sent the Weatherby back because it was too large. I received the other three back far faster than they promised. I am kind of an odd duck (I know that is a real revelation) because I reload and workout at the same time. Last night was legs, chest, and the Lott. I used the Lee Factory Crimping die on the Lott and it is incredible! No crushed cases. The best $25 I have spent so far.

Hi Longbob,
Just curious if you have ever tried Winchester 748 in your Lott. I used it in my 450 Ackley with great results. It was very accurate and I reached velocities of 2400 fps. It is temperature stable and with the coatings I don't think the old 458 Winchester problems of powder gelling together apllies. The A-Square manual shows a load of 90 grains with a velocity of 2298 with pressures at 41,800 psi in a 26 inch barrel with their 465 grain bullet. In my Ackley I shot 96 grains of ww 748 for a velocity of 2380 and 100 grains of WW748 for a velocity of 2410 fps. Both loads were very accurate and no pressure signs. All bullets were 500 grain Hornady softs or solids. These cases are very close in volume. Again just curious.

470 Mbogo,

No I haven't tried 748 in my Lott. Is the 748 a ball powder that is more dense per grain than H4895, Varget, or IMR 4320? In order to keep my COL under 3.600", I cannot get more than 84 grains of these powders without a lot of compression. A drop tube would help. I hope D'Arcy Echols doesn't see this post. He has been telling me to get one and I haven't yet.

Hi Longbob,
Yes 748 is a sperical powder and packs very well. If you have an archery buddy just ask him for an old arrow shaft, they make a great drop tube. I was able to seat a bullet over 100 grains of 748 Winchester but it was a 602 action and magazine box. Looking back in my notes the OAL was 3.750

Hey I bow hunt and have plenty of arrows! What's even better, I have plenty of my buddy's arrows at my house. I'll sacrifice one of his. I never thought of using one of those. Which kind should I use? One of his aluminum or carbon shafts? FYI. He doesn't know about this site, so he'll never find out.

Longbob, where do you send the case for the factory crimp die? I was just talking to John Ricks about that for my rifle.

JJHACK,

This is straight from their website.
