No difference, that I know of. The Super Express was the name for the model now referred to as the Safari Express.

There is also the Custom Safari Express, which for $3000 comes with 3-leaf Express rear sight, a semi-fancy American walnut stock, a shadowline cheekpiece, 1" recoil pad, one-piece trigger guard and "picture frame" floorplate with honed internal parts for both smooth looks and smooth function.

I believe the Super Express was made before the production moved to South Carolina. My Buddy has the Super Express and I have the Safari in 375. Differences are:

Small Monte Carlo Stock on the Super vs Straight Comb on the Safari

Welded barrel stud on the Super vs Barrel Band on the Safari.

Red Recoil pad on the Super vs Black on the Safari.

Steel Follower on the Super vs Aluminum on the Safari.

Both shoot 3/4 group with 79gr Rel 19 and Swift 300gr.

The action on his was much smoother and it fed properly, mine had the new Aluminum follower that I replaced to get to feed properly.

I preferred his because side by side I thought the quality was better on the pre SC gun, I'd lay them next to one another and pick what I thought was the best.

Hope this helps

Jim

I have a chance to pick up a Super Express M-70 In 416 rem and I was wondering what's the difference between this rifle and a Safari Express. Which would make a better DGR? Any info will be appreciated. THanks

Must be a typo, perhaps 69 grains or 73 grains??

My safari expess has a barrel lug. The only super I've seen seems to have a high gloss finsish, while mine is a flat matte black.

The rifle functions well and is a great shooter.

I have a Classic Super Express in 373 H&H and one thing I changed was the grip cap. It was plastic on my Super Express and I changed it for the metal grip cap which comes with the Supergrade rifles. I didn't change it for cosmetic reasons only, it broke on its first safari in Africa.
