This p.m., I was reloading some .470 NE ammo. Some if it was Bertram brass. But the flash holes in the BB are not in the center, so I screwed up the decapping insert of my sizing die. Silly me for assuming the flash hole would be in the center. bewildered

And no, they are not Berdan primed.

Many of us de-cap the big nitro-expresses by hand before sizing: it can be a 'big ask' to expect the decapper to hit the flash-hole dead-centre every time, unsupported for over 3 inches.
(..extra-big ask for Bertram's flash-holes )

Not like you're doing a hundred at a time...

Actually I have never had this problem with any other brand of .470 brass, with any brand of .500 brass, or any brand of .600 brass. However, now I know better.

While we're on the subject of Bertram brass, is it true that Bell has gone TU? I've used some Bertram in an 11.15x60R (.43 Mauser) that I have and it has proven to be really shitty stuff. The Bell brass I have is great.

Bell is long gone. They sold their equipment to Jamison in South Dakota.

I've never had any decapping problems with my Nitro Express work. I have priming prblems that were the results of CHD4 shell holders!

Never again!
