I just picked up a 458 Lott and can't seem to locate a bore guide for my new toy. I use bore guides for my 416 and 375, and don't want to screw anything up by not using one. suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc

If your careful you won't screw anything up. People been cleaning guns without them for many years now.

However a quick solution is to drill out a case head and insert a aluminum arrow shaft in it, glass the shaft in and cut shaft to desired length. I have a bunch of these for different calibers.

Insert the case in the chamber, run your patch through the arrow shaft and into the barrel and clean the bore. the case protects the chamber and the throat lands..I use a towell over the stock to catch the run off.

MarcF,

Call Eric Sinclair at 260-782-0735. Eric owns Possum Hollow Products (formerly known as EJS) and will make a bore guide for your .458. Eric is a terrific guy and has a great bore guide. Turn around is quick.

Thanks for all the advice. Ray, I'm a lazy guy so I called Eric. What a gentleman. He is sending me a bore guide and since he doesn't take credit cards, he asked me to send him a check for $20.00, only if I like it and it fits. Refreshing. I don't know what else he sells (catalogue on the way), but if I ever need anything he is my go to guy.

Thanks again.

the FL-sized case with a 1/4" hole thru the primer pocket is the simple, easy solution...if a bit inelegant. It's what I have for my single shot rifles.
