Pigman, I have one and love it.I do not have a cronography but I am sure that there is around a 100 FPS gain over the shorter barrels when using hot loads. My gun seems to like the Remington 405 grain FN seated in the top cannelure with a near maximum Marlin 1895 load of IMR-4064.It will put three shots into literaly one ragged hole at 100 yards from the bench, using a Leupold 2x7 Compact cranked all the way up.I am going to work up a load with the Hornady 350 grain RN pushed to around 2200-2300 FPS out of this rifle so I can have a slightly flatter trajectory at 200 yards. I have never heard of anyone having an inaccurate Browning High Wall. They are well made and very attractive.I know I'll never sell mine. ------------------

My father's got one with a 32" bbl. W/ Verneer Target sights it shoots just about where you point it at 200 yds. (sorry 200 yds is the farthest range we've got) ------------------

I will be interested in your results with the 350 Hornady bullet. I am considering using this bullet or the equivialent flat point myself. Seems to me the 405 is excessive for white tails or wild pigs. From what I've read confilicting post on bulletin boards that the 350 round nose which was made for the 458 winmag and may not mushroom effectivly at slower speeds.

I use the Hornady 350 in my Ruger #1 over 51 grains of 4198. It hits deer like Thor's hammer. Accuracy is great - cloverleaves at 100 yards.

Pigman, I have had the exact same results with the Hornady 350 grain RN as Crowrifle has.I killed a nice buck with that bullet out of my little Ruger #1 45/70,pushed to 2000 FPS or so.He was slightly quartering away at 70 yards or so.Put it about half way back on his ribs and pushed the bullet out his off shoulder. He crumpled right there.Entrance hole was .45 caliber, exit hole was .60 to .70 caliber.Good enough for me!! You are right, the 405 is not needed for deer or hogs.Only reason I shot some out of my High Wall as I have a bunch for my 458 and they ended up not feeding out of it.To me the 350 grain RN or FN is the ultimate deer/black bear/hog bullet. The FN is supposedly a little softer, but I still like the RN better. It will be a few months before I get to work up loads for the Browning with the 350 grain RN.When I do though I will post it here. ------------------

I'm hoping to get started working up the 350 round nose by February. I may have to have my sholder scoped the first of the year. If so that will put me behind for a couple of months.Fortunatly the bad sholder is my left. Don't know how much it will affect my shooting.

Pigman, I hope your shoulder scoping goes well.My father has had both his shoulders rebuilt. Now he can't shoot anything with much recoil from the bench, and can't pack any guns that weight very much.He hunted this year with a custom little Weatherby 250 Ackley Improved that weights only 6 pounds scoped, which was perfect for him.He ended up killing both his bucks this year with the rifles I was hunting with though, one of which was a 7mag.Had to have killed his shoulder but I doubt if he felt it in the heat of the moment. ------------------

My sholder is not that bad probably just a little torn cartledge. I'm hoping the rehab time won't be to long.
