.375 Short Mag ???
Don't know why but I just got to wondering. Has anybody tried making a short mag or .404 diameter case in 30-06 length, then fireing a .375 bullet? Would this work? Would it be like a .375 H&H in a standard length action?

It's called the .375 Dakota (if you mean .30-06 length). I think they load it to about 2600 f/s with 300 grain bullets.

The olderst is the .375 Taylor which is either the 458 WinMag necked down to .375-caliber or you can take a 338 WinMag and neck it up. 300gr bullet at 2500 fps is standard.

Next would be the 9.53 Lazzeroni Hellcat which is the 30-caliber Lazzeroni Patriot necked up to 375-caliber....300gr bullet at 2600 fps. OAL of this round is 2.8".

Recent wildcat 375 WSM, also 2.8", will get apporx 2450 fps with 300gr bullet.
