After much wailing and nashing of teeth I finally got my 416 Taylor together today. I am on a budget so I bought the parts as I could afford them. First the brass (I am funny about getting the brass first, I tell everone if I get the brass first then I can tell the wife I already have most of the parts for it), then came the barrel and dies from midway. Next the barrel wrench and bullets, (350 grain speer and some 390 grain gas check hard cast from Bonus Bullets), and lastly the new Savage left hand 7 rem mag rifle. I went over to Craftsman's shop, he let me use his barrel vise and helped me headspace it....it was just too easy. With a little inletting of the barrel channel it was ready to go. It feeds real well, no jams or problems with no tuning, and I had already loaded some 390 grainers in front of a healthy charge of 3031. Even without sights I just had to hear it roar, and roar it did. It weighs exactly 8 pounds on Craftsman's scales, without sights, so I need to find a scope that weighs about 2 pounds (grin). It did a great job of tearing up a dirt berm behind his shop, I can't wait to get a scope on it and do some load work with it. Just had to tell y'all about it. I cant stop grinning and my shoulder isnt at all sore. Will keep you posted on developments. Good luck and good shooting, Eterry

Yes, let's see some pics. Mine is going out for its first run today. I finally got around to scoping mine....with an old Leupold 3x in Warne bases and rings. That scope looks about perfect on my rig. Mine is on a Mauser action with a Shilen #5 barrel and a Boyd's JRS laminated stock. Weight before the bases, rings and scope was a tad under 9#. I tend to buy brass and dies first also. I tell the wife that since I have dies and brass I need a gun to shoot the loads out of. Seems to work about half the time. Anyway, congrats on the gun. Craig
