Gents: I need a photo (preferrably closeup) of a ZKK 602 with a pop up peep sight. Thanks, Jeff

I think they all started to go down hill after they removed the peep sight. However that is not to say that guns without peeps are not good quality, I have seen some superb one's, but I think in general it was the start of the decline of CZ's. The in built peep really was a master piece of design.

That is Nice! A very useful feature. Thank you ALF. Wish they would put the flip peep back, might be an good excuse to buy another bigun. Imagine that sight and 3 position on-bolt safety. Ah beauty. Even the marking on the action, top notch.

Thats fine if you like peep sights. Myself I rather have a scope.

jro, thats a valid point. a nice peep like that would add too the cost of the rifle. I now have a CZ550 in 505 and cannot image using a scope with that, a peep would be nice (for me). Brownell offers a peep for $50 or so for the CZ550. (thanks to AR I heard of this) No flip down option. It should not be too much cost and engineering to include the flip peep and still provide for scope ring mounting. It might be a generational thing, I guess. Peeps do work but it take a while to trust in the magic. That is the small hole acts like a lense and even tired old eyes will focus on the front bead and target. The peep has advantages but will probably never equal a scope for confidence and ease of use (for most). Ive had problems with scopes in bad weather, nothing is perfect. I remember one stormy day coming in from deer hunting out back, I had to warm up my gun to melt the ice so I could cycle the ammo out. Neither a peep or scope would have been any good that day.

fourbore, The problem is, even if it doesn't add too many $ to the price, the US Market is soooooo price sensitive that they wouldn't want any more $ added to the cost otherwise they loose sales. That is one of the reasons why a high level of discounting in a market hinders development IMHO.

The removal of the peep sight in the ZKK line was only one of a range of cost cutting measures taken at roughly the same time, the removal of the front swivel from the barrel to the foreend was another. In general the wood quality & checkering suffered then too & the overall metal finish was rougher & more "gritty". That being so the later ones were still generally an accurate rifle & with a bit of working at slicked up well & were a very good workaday firearms. The couple I've owned & sold are definitely in the category of those I wished I hadn't. Steve

When I first got my 458 Lott It had peep sights on it But it wouldn't shoot to point of aim. So I put a scope on it and now it shoots to point of aim. It was off about 6" but I like my rifles to shoot to point of aim. END OF STORY.

That's a very fair summary. Re the "gritiness", yes, they definately slicked up a lot over time - or with some work. Accuracy was never a problem with any of them.

Jro, you can adjust the fixed sights. right? Even replace the front bead if needed. or are you saying the peep was not adjustable? I see the windage. I know, if you change loads your hosed. But then, what happens if you drop the rifle and break the scope? Not just end of story - end of hunt.
