popcornThe fella that converted mine and 14 others to center fire calls it a 44 because it uses the same bullet as the 44 mag. and 444. A rose by any other name I guess. I posted here hoping to share information on loading and performance. Again************* ANYONE? waveroger

@Roger and #@all

Please refer to my page:
10,4x38R Vetterli

I have a lot of experience with this obsolete cartridge. I'm using the bullets from H&N in the dimension of .429 and the accuracy at 100 meters (approx. 109 yards) is great...

Great pleasure to shoot.

Good shooting and good hunting

tu2 truly nice !! Would you care to share any load data and such. Right now I am using a variety of smokeless powders and holding the velocity of a 330grain bullet under 1300 fps. And yes it is a fun gun! beerroger

Nice gun for black bears, Roger!

Never even heard of that conversion before, but it sure looks like a fun rig.

Somebody ought to hold silhouette matches limited to guns (rifle OR pistol allowed)invented before 1890 and shooting cartridges no longer than 2" OAL, using either smokeless or black fuel. Could be a real turn-on with a rifle such as yours.
