I posted this first in the Reloading Forum, but I'm not getting much traffic, so ... I'm starting to gather the needed equipment for a 404 Jeffery I'll be building soon. What is the diameter of the pilot for the RCBS Trim Pro you're using? I looked on the RCBS website and didn't see a .423 diameter pilot. Thanks, Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

Forster makes #422 but not sure if it fits your rcbs? You could call rcbs or a .416 should work. http://www.forsterproducts.com...og.asp?prodid=700317

I made my own. I had a spare 375 pilot so drilled a piece of brass and pined and epoxied it on the 375 pilot. Then using a i/2 drill in a vice as a sort of lathe, bought the brass over button down till it was a slip fit in a case that had been sized and expanded in the "M" die in my die set. Radiused the end and have a perfect pilot for my needs. Von Gruff.

I chucked a 44 Magnum pilot in a drill press, then let it spin and held a file, and then a knife-sharpening stone, against it until I had reduced it to a smooth slip-fit in the 404 Jeffery resized neck. Making your own from what is on hand is that easy.

On double rifles and all my big bores, and lever actions that I might be inclined to crimp, I use the file trim die..It is more accurate and gives me a uniform crimp on all loads..The cost of a trim die from RCBS is not much money.
