Forgot to mention, I have begun my first big bore rifle project. I have a Montana M99 in my hands and a barrel on order form Classic Barrel & Gunworks. I will be attemping a full octogon with integeral quater-rib and recoil lug. It will be a .470 Capstick when complete. Hopefully I can get it done before school is over. I plan on using a Serengeti Rhino stock. Although wood will have to wait awhile, because school is bankrupting me.

Dan,

They may be ugly, but as a ex-colleague of mine who used it in a rather dusty country told; the sound alone is impressive and the effect on the enemy is devastating. He had no qualms about using this beast as it was intended to be used, and it did it's job very well...

40mm might be a tad overkill for our scandinavian moose though.

SHIIIIITE! I'd own one in a heartbeat. Only three problems though, the multiple ATF forms, price and ammo supply. Throw that in your gunrack.

Only 400K?
I bet the new would wear off that thing pretty quick, especially after you find out you spent 400,000 for something that lobs robin's eggs.

I must admit I have had fantasies involving a machine like that during mid summer afternoon traffic jams in Los Angeles. Smiler

That is one of the great things about being in the Army. I get paid to play with toys like the Mk-19. I have shot literally thousands of rounds of 40mm TP and HE through them and they are a lot of fun. For some reason you feel the need for a cigarette afterwards and I dont even smoke. Go figure.

My favorite weapon was a howitzer, but I would still like to have the MK19 for a while anyway as they are a lot of fun.

I think the double that Larry Hagman got from from H&H was $2,000,000

I guess if he had more money to spend he would have got Purdey Big Grin

Hagman bought a double? My PH in TZ met with Larry recently when in LA. The PH got to Larry's house in the morning and he was already drunk. They talked, had lunch, Larry continued to drink, and even more peculiarly left the room every 10 minutes or so to change hats. He wore everything from cowboy hats to a captain's hat to something an indian would wear. Larry eventually passed out on his sofa while guests were still there.
As for a safari, Larry's public relations people eventually advised him not to go on the safari as it wouldn't look good in his wacko Hollywood elite town.
So Larry now has a double with no place to use it???? Wink

An actor that was on Dallas, I Dream of Jeannie, ect. Interestly, on his web site it says, "Larry, an avid Harley-hog, also enjoys fishing, traveling, and collecting hats and flags."

Jarrod,

As I remember the rifle had the cast of Dallas done with the relief engaving. I might have the terminologhy wrong but the engraving was not the faces scratched on.

Scracthed on would be the opposite of Mt Rushmore and the President's faces

Yeh, but he fits right in as a guy who passes out while his guests are still there!

I think they need to open season in Hollywood, no bag limit!

Ther only pictures of the larry hagman "Dallas" gun i've seen were in H&H's book.

It looks just like it sounds, SL H&H w/ bulino engraving of the Dallas TV characters.

As to the reported price of 2million dollars? Not unless the action was made from platinum instead of being coin finished.
