It finally warmed up enough here in MI for me to test out the 600 OK that I received from Wayne last week. What a fantastic job he did building the rifle! I tested it out on a few oak trees at my hunting spot. I tried some 900gr Woodleighs and some of the 800gr bullets Macifej made (thanks CCMDoc) Having never owned a gun larger than 458Lott I was a bit nervous on the first shot. But it really was managable recoil. I'm sure having the proper LOP helped. I've smacked my nose a couple times with the 458 RSM. What a fantastic rifle and cartridge. It makes me sorry I didn't step up to the ultra big bores sooner. I'm looking forward to taking it bison hunting. Rob, how about doing a run of 750gr?

Excellent!!! It really is so much more manageable than some would have you believe. Contrary to what has been written - you actually CAN hunt with it, AND amazingly make quick, accurate follow-up shots! Funny you should ask RGB about those 750 grainers ... C_H is absolutely correct - we need pictures! Sa85- Congrats. Sure shoots better than those .458's doesn't it! Which load did you use? Maybe evn ol WeeWee Wheiland should shoot one before he runs his mouth. How many 750's do you want? PM me. I have a bunch available.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

Sa85 You will really enjoy your AHR 600 Ok. Wait until you shoot your Bison, you will literally dump him. My Bison just fell over with the shot, 600 OK, 900 gr Woodleigh FMJ at 2320 fps. Enjoy! Dak

I think Rob hit it already, the 458 lott generates as much recoil as many of the 500's and 600's out there (there are exceptions of course). John

CCMDOC was gracious enough to let me shoot his while it was at Wayne's shop. I knew then I'd have to have one. March sometime is what Wayne tells me. Woo-Hoo! Rich

Thanks for the welcome to the 600ok club. I went with a 12lb rifle with the CZ action and 22" barrel. LOP is 14.5"-It's nice to finally have a rifle that actually shoulders right. I also got the threaded muzzle brake.I started with 150gr of H4350 and finished with 160gr. Here's a couple photos that Wayne took before shipping the rifle Rob, I'll take 50 of them. I'll send you a PM.

Several mention proper LOP, how do you determine that? Do you take some body measurements. Arm length? I tired one of those slipon recoil pads and the longer LOP just felt better. I wonder exactly how to determine the right LOP?

Hmmm - hadn't thought about that as a next hunt with the 600OK. I was thinking about going for those HUGE RUSSIAN BOARS in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but Bison sounds good too! Of course, I'm already itching to go back to Africa ... Welcome to the club SA---beautifull rifle as always from AHR. Paul----you need to kill both. It's been a while since we've seen this little piggie. You need to try one of the fast 750's of Rob's on one

I know I am going to get a lot of answers here but what is your recommendation for the optimum weight for a .600 OK? What does Wayne suggest? 12-13lbs is fine. Lighter is better if your going to do some serious hunting. Heavier if your going to push the envelope. You can tolerate any amount of recoil for one or two shots. You'll carry that thing a whole lot longer.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!
