Aestetics and Art Alphin aside, what would you consider A-Square rifles to be? Customs they aren't. I'm thinking something like a professionally done sporter rifle. Any thoughts here? Jason "Chance favors the prepared mind." | ||

I've seen 2 come through camp and they both resembled the 9th wonder of the world! Huge and I had the project of shooting both.they shot well but were so different from the usual it would be tough to pick 1 up and feel at ease. The 1917 action is a true Dinasaur. There is nothing wrong with the 1917/Rem30S, actions. Many big bore rifles have been built on them and they can look and handle great. It is how they are put together that makes either classic or crap. As for an A2 rifle, well, "I" would not have one. As others have described them as stock with a railroad tie, and I think that is a pretty close description. I agree with the railroad tie (SLEEPER) discription, of the A-Square rifles. Those things are imnpossible to handle fast! Hog Killer is right, a properly built 1917 makes a fine big game rifle! The one he posted a picture of is chambered for 458LOTT, and handles just fine, not feeling like it weighs as much as it does. I handled this rifle last year at the DSC show, and it feel fine to me.
