.366torqueI wonder if possible to rechamber to 450 NE?
I saw a thread on an Italian 45/70 double, it was suggested it can happen.
I'm just thinking is all.

Idaho Sharpshooter.366, just go with easy, available, and cheap...45-90 (2.5)or 45-120 (3.25). Lyman makes both die sets, Starline makes 45-90 and Jamison makes the 45-120. My 45-120 in a Ruger SS shoves 540gr pullets out the front at 2200+fps.

tontoleave it 45/70 my kodiak is shooting 405grains At 1850+fps now. knocked my black bear on her a$$. Should take care of most game you would use one on. Face it if you are gonna hunt buff or elephant you most likely can buy more than a $600 gun. IMHO

RogerJeffe,
What's the 45/70 nitro get you?
Best bet, re-bore to 450 Alaskan if there's enough metal in the chamber area.

Brain1You guys need to put the crack pipe down, it's getting to you in a bad way. I am so very unimpressed with Remington these days. I have sold a few of the SPR18 single shots. Decent guns but Remington has no idea how to put a scope on them. The double will be the same. I spent monday tracking down a mount that has to be gotten out of Canada. I know what you are thinking, it's an 11mm grooved base already on the gun. Yep, you are correct, but it will not stand up to recoil even from a 308.
You can borrow money, but you can't borrow time. Don't wait, go now.

jeffeossoBrian,
if the metal is good, and they can be regulated, I can fix the rest.. i make stocks and can machine scope mounts... even if it means cutting a notch into the rib, DnT it, and put weaver bases on it!!

Gringo CazadorHey Jeffe,
If I get one I'm going to solve the scope mounting problem by turning the gun upside down, mounting the scope on the bottom with wood screws and makeing an attachment so I can shoot around trees.

Idaho SharpshooterOkay, 45-120...one more time:
Lyman 45-120 die set......$39.99
Jamison Brass.............under $2 apiece and available
Cast bullets for practice.....25-40 cents apiece
The fun of owning and shooting an American Express cartridge that throws 500+gr bullets over 2200fps (I shoot mine that hot)...priceless
Next Question....
you are dismissed

Hey Billy, don't forget to tig the triggers together to double your chances of hitting something!
