Socrates there is no band on Black talons. Wincester stopped making them available to the general public. No law was passed banding them. Having tested them on soft armor they do not penetrate soft armor any better then any other hollow pt I have tested traveling at the same speed. If your able to buy win. law enforcement ammo you can get the same thing under the ranger name by wincester. I find that any good hollow pt works just as well when driven fast enough to expand or fragment.

Thanks Karl

P Dog, I never did understand what all the fuss was about with black talons, other than the name invoking some sort of threat to all of liberal land, and something the media could hang their hats on.

Socrates we in the gun world knew all along it was just a liberal media ploy to push for more gun control. the anti gunner wouldn't know a good bullet from bad on ( one that works well to one that doesn't). They saw a chance to score some anti gun points and went for it. They rather have u use fmj and get killed because of it. then have good stoppers out there and see the crook killed. To the anti's a dead home owner is much better than a dead crook. With a dead home owner they can always say we told you so with a dead crook their BS goes down hill fast.

Boy, I'm coming in late.

Anyway, you can still get 'Black Talon' ammunition from Winchester (they just changed the name to Ranger SXT), and no it's not armor piercing by design, and no the little points don't saw through the assailant. My father was a trauma surgeon who saw a couple of shootings with this ammunition, and he didn't prick his fingertips on the pointy bits (as 'ER' alleged).

Second, the DA doesn't care what ammunition you use. That comes up in the civil case(s) you *will* deal with after the justice system is done with you.

Third, maybe there should be a mandatory photo of every member of the board next to his name. That ought to sort out who's who and how old etc. Then again, I'm not sure I want to know what some of you look like...

Cheers,

mfw

Nice try, Karl.

BTW, are you a bar bouncer, a cop, a kindergarten teacher, or all of the above?

P Dog:
This is a great year for concealed weapons carry. Two courts have already had judges come out in favor of it.

I'm going to give it a try, very soon, since, I just got something worth carrying, and, I work for the chief of police of a local community, though not in a LE position.

I also work part time for two attorneys, do divorce for police officers. They know my local chief of police pretty well.

Going to be intresting walking in and asking for a concealed weapons permit in both stations:lol:

Yes, it will be intresting. This whole new law, requireing you to buy a trigger lock, before you can take the gun out of the store, and that an UNLOADED GUN be transported in a locked container, in a car,
are way out there.

The problem behind this stuff, is how do you show harm?

Unless arrested, you have no action.

I'm going to have to talk to the LE attorney, and see how the Contra Costa DA handles people that violate this law. Should be intresting, and, at the same time,
I'll ask him when I can use the police range, since he's in charge of it,ROFL.
