There is no way I would buy a blaser double. It's no more than a kid's toy and poorly executed at that. The sights are a weird design that I found hard to see. The stock is set up without enough drop so I could not even get down low enough to line up the sights properly. If they were selling for $1500, then I could understand why someone would buy one. But the Sig is not a legitimate dangerous game rifle. Not to mention the shroud that gets in your way when you try to put cartridges in it.

Is anyone at Sig listening?

so dan i take it you dont like them....hehehe

my local shop up here has one thats why i was asking the qestion it was a beautful rifle the engraving was great and the wood was out of this world as far as grain and over all finish of the rifle i how ever would replace the sights with those found on the searcy rifles wich i belive to be new england custom gun sights.

and remember i am talking about the super lexus model not the standard or the regular lexus this is a step up from those two.

I have handled about a dozen different Blaser S2 Safari rifles, in calibres 375 H&H, 500/416, 470 and 500 Nitro.
They do feel BIG, but for me and several of my friends the sights have lined up perfectly. I have no doubt that they will shoot very good. [Based on the other Blaser products I have shot] They are "new technology" and are different. You will have to judge for yourself if one will "work" for you. As soon as I get to shoot one I will report the results. I do wish the rifle would stay cocked when you open the action.

another reason i asked this question is that the asking price is only $9200 canadian the reason is because it was a show gun its been touched and handeled quite a bit but has only half a box of ammo through it just for demonstaration purposes its in mint condition and am really thinking about buying it. exp since they go for 14-15k us$ brand new

ps i forgot to say its in 470 nitro express

The action bolting is "new" and quite elaborate. There is a pivoting block that tilts into position between the action face and the breech end of the barrels. It's new, complicated and refreshing but personally I do not know If I would spend the money on one.

In how far would you call Jger's invention "new" ?

Don't they also have that weird cocking piece/safety mechanism similar to Krieghoff if I recall correctly?

I have been looking for a good value on a 9.3x74R double and I too was impressed by the quality of the engraving and the beautiful wood on the S-2s that I saw....and I liked the idea of being able to get a single-trigger (won't be using it for dangerous game) but I handled several at the Safari Club Convention and at least for me they felt very "clubby" and excessively barrel heavy....even in the smaller calibers.

There is obviously something you wish to share with us about this innovative action?
I would like to know what it is called and how it came about.

Allow me for a bit more time. I am remiss, I know. The Jgerverschluss (I am not sure whether this is the *same* Mr. Jger from Suhl who had also invented the use of metall pressing and sheet metal in firearms construction - what diverse paths, and what an irony) was known already in the beginning of the century.

The patent has of course expired and both Suhler Jagdwaffen ("Merkel") and Blaser have taken up the idea again.
