Do the GS Custom HV Bullets work as advertised on DG game, especially the .375 (300 gr) and .416 (330 gr) bullets? Can one achieve higher velocities with GS Custom bullets vs. other monolithics? Regards, AIU

For which 375 and 416 do you want to load?

Gerard, I have a 375 Ackley Improved - will shoot 300 gr. bullets ~2850 fps safely. My 416 is a 416 RUM ("UltraCAT") and will shoot 350 gr. bullets over 2800 fps.

Can your bullets be loaded to higher velocities than comparable bullets, given the design and coating? - like the old blue-coated Barnes XLC bullets. Would I have to go to a faster powder to get that added velocity?

Regards, AIU

Sorry about that, Gina is here in SA at the moment and we have much to do and not getting to everything. nilly

Weight for weight you will get between 50 to 150fps more from GSC bullets, depending on the caliber and the powder. The best weights to use, if you are running standard for caliber twist rates, are the 265gr HV and 270gr FN for the 375. In the 416, use the 330gr HV and the 380gr FN. Between those, there is nothing that walks in Africa that you cannot shoot and kill.

As far as the coating is concerned, pretend you did not see it. We have developed the coating so that the bullets will be interchangeable with naked bullets and the coating on GSC does not require anything different from the cleaning methods you would use normally.

Let me have the case capacities of your cases and I will work out decent start loads.

It is easiest to use my email address for tech stuff as I sometimes do not have time to get to the forums for a while.

Gerard, thanks first for responding, I appreciate it.

I have a bunch of your 300 HV .375 bullets. I plan on using them in my .375 H&H Ackley Improved (slighly larger case capacity than the 375 Weatherby) at 107 grs. of H20.

I use a 26.5" barrel and I'm getting 2850 fps at the muzzle with 300 TSXs, Failsafes,...etc. I have 1:12" twist.

The gun stabilized 350 gr. TSXs quite nicely.

My 415 RUM has 120 grs. H20 capacity and a 1:13" twist rate. IMO, it'll shoot the 330 gr. HVs at 2900 fps without PSI signs.

I PM'ed you as well, hence using your email.

Regards, AIU
