I am contemplating mounting a red dot sight on the barrel of my .400 Whelen and am looking for recommendations on units that will stand up to recoil and normal hunting abuse. The gun is built on a 1903 Mark 1 Springfield action and I don't want to drill the front receiver ring. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

We have Trijicon RMR sights on my 8lb 416 and my better half's 8lb 500NE. They have held up fine for many 100's of shots

I like the dual circles. That big circle is a speedy guide to finding the center dot. I use the on my 12 ga shotguns. Get Close and Wack'em Hard

Trijicon RMRs. I have a PH in Africa, Ade Langley, that I gave one to for his 416 Remington bolt and he has told me that it saved his hunting career. I left one for Shaun Buffee for his double on one of my hunts in the BVC. I also have them for two of my double rifles.

I use a Holosun 507C- GR green dot on my 577NE single shot. I like it. the green dot is easier/clearer to see for me than the red dot. My rose coloured shooting glasses make it a nice tidy round dot. brian IHMSA BC Provincial Champion and Perfect 40 Score, Unlimited Category, AAA Class.

I've a Kahles Helia RD on a 458 Lott. I've about 100 rounds through it with the dot so far and I like it a LOT. I'm contemplating a red dot for my 470 Merkel.

It would seem that one can then deduce that we are spoilt for choice regarding red dot sights, seeing all the different brands mentioned here with positive experiences.
