I tested the 270gr TSX in my 375HH today with 73.0gr of RL-15. Velocity was 2650fps. I have a 23" barrel and was just curious what kind of velocity others are getting with longer barrels. Thanks Safari

In my M70s with 24" barrels with 74.0g RL-15 and 270g TSX I get around 2,700fps, maybe a little more on a warm day, with great accuracy (.5"-.75" @ 100 yds).

Have you both shot RL-15 and a Barnes 300 TSX? I'm about to work on that one a bit and wondered where to start it and where the top end is. I have a 24" barreled Win M70 that I'll be using. Thanks for sharing the 270 gr. info.

Ty Harding of Barnes Bullets explained this question in one of his monthly e-mail tips. He suggests using the regular Barnes X bullet info, but you can exceed the max load by 1 to 2 grains as the grooves in the tripleshocks give less pressure. Increase powder charges in .5 grain increments checking for high pressure signs as you proceed.

No I have not used the 300gr TSX but am in the process of working up 300gr. Northforks.

I used RL15 and the 300 gr TSX with great results!!!!!!!!!!!! I (think) I was at 74 gr and 2670fps with NO case head expansion. and it put 4 in 1'' @100yds. gun is a SS model 70 with a 1.75x6 lupy on it. You can't kill them setting on the couch.

P:redator: that is really a fast load. About what I get from a 270 X with 74 grains of RE15. Ive shot 250 grain laods that weren't much faster!..

Yea, I really like it and is does not show any of the regular pressure signs. Im using fc cases and fed 215gm primers. I micked all the cases and they all mike the same as factory brass both un fired and once fired. This load may make my 357 ultra blush when I get it. You can't kill them setting on the couch.

74 grains of RL-15 with the .375/270grTSX sounds like a great load to me. My old .375/300grX-Bullet load for the .375 H&H was 72 grains of RL-15 and it gave me no pressure problems for 2530 fps in the 24" barrel, Winchester brass and GM215M primer for mine. The Barnes manual seems to be over 100 fps too optimistic on just about everything. I'd say your velocity approaching 2700 fps with the 270 grainers is right on/real. Nice load, I ought to try it.

Rip, thats a 300gr TSX @ 2670. Barnes listed 72 gr of RL15 as you said for the 300grX but I went two grains over fro the TSX ( per barnes) and it just plain works. Thanks for all your help on the 375 wby. I fialy gave up and had a 375 ultra built ( in the works ) two has got to be better than one! You can't kill them setting on the couch.

Oops, I see. One is supposed to be able to use more powder and get higher velocities or lower pressures with those TSX's. I much prefer the 300 grainers and see I will be able to add more powder, I will start with 72 grains and expect to go to 74 grains, no problem with my rifle in .375 H&H. I have a supply of 300 grain TSX's, the only weight .375 bullet I ever consider anymore. Get thee behind me 270 grainer. I was tempted but now am over it. .375 WBY and .375 RUM need bigger helpings of slower powders, and so does the .375 Lapua, but not quite so much as the .378 WBY.

I stared at 70 gr and went up to 74. all the cases miked the same after fireing. velocity was from 2520ish to 2670. Good luck You can't kill them setting on the couch.
