I post this for Overkill and myself, and i was interested in what loads one could expect with the .577 NE in Heym bolt action and a 24 or 25 " barrel( max loads )???

Per...! I think .577 NE have more power than the .585 Nyati. But a .600 NE or a .700 NE have much more energy. A .700 NE with a 26"-28" barrel can shoot 1000 grainers at over 2600 f/s. And a .600 NE up to 2700-2750 f/s I think with a 28" barrel. I have already forget the .577 TYRANNOSAUR a .600 NE have more power and a bigger bullet diameter. So it have more "stopping power" than the 577/585 calibers. A .700 NE would be fun to have with a 26" barrel or longer. Think 20 000 joule

Mitch, Overkill, What planet are you planning to hunt on? On this planet I assure you any of the big calibers you mentioned have more than enough power the dispatch any animal VERY quickly if the shot placement is good.[/QUOTE] Nothing to add.

Yeah Mitch you have right to 100 %. But it is fun with a very big bore with much power. For hunting of angry bears at short range, and for fun.
