Okay, I sort've, kind've got my big bore double rifle
I've traded for a new Kodiak Safari double rifle - delivery on April 12. I seek a round ball mold .715-.720 inch. I prefer single cavity, but double-cavity mold is acceptable. While my easiest way to go is to buy, if you have a mold and have things for which you want to trade, I'll see what I can do.

While this has notheing to do with acquiring a mold, it may still be a worthwhile question. Are the Safari's barrels soldered [nearly] full length? Since regulation is going to be a project, perhaps requiring different loads for each barrel, I'm wondering about shortening the 25-inch barrels and remounting a front sight?

I'm less concerned about severe recoil than I am 10+ pounds and 43 inches to carry. Where I intend to use it - Lolo National Forest ten minutes from my home - forest is thick; range will be short; terrain can be steep. Carrying and acquiring the target are the problems I need to address. Recoil for two shots I can live with. . . .

Now, if Montana will create a muzzleloading elk and deer season with regulations already in place for special ML seasons, I'll be in hog heaven.

All the New England states with muzzle loader seasons specify one barrel guns Frowner

I looked at that gun in the catalog in various calibers and I wondered how a 72 cal round ball stacks up against a 58 cal maxi-ball. The 72 is a very slow twist, so appears to be a round ball only gun.

you will have two sights and probably will need to use them.. i spent a good deal of time and money getting my 58 regulated.. and its 2" at 50 yards .. 777 or triple 7 is your friend in these .. you can get crazy more power with triple 7 ...
