Have not used these, but with the original Barnes X, I think I must have been present on over 100 encounters between the Barnes and buffalo.

The Barnes won every time.

I am sure they will work, I have seen a lot of buffalo shot with both BarnesX and Barnes solids. The flat nose should just add to their effectiveness.

I am a fan of Barnes X bullets on big heavy animals, and not much impressed with them on light plainsgame as I have had some bad experiences with them on the lighter animals, I think on ocassion the noses pinch in and they fail.

However, I know a lot of very qualified big game hunters who swear by them for everything and these are people that I highly respect, guess its just a crap shoot, you rolls da dice and sometimes your lucky and sometimes the watergap washes out!

I have taken three cape buffaloes with this bullet (Barnes 300 gr). They worked fine. In two of them, the bullets open cleanly (mushroomed) and the bulls died quickly. With the third one, I shooted squarely in the chest, and the animal runned (I think dead) but I shooted a second round that reached the last rib, went throughout the torax, then to the neck and broke the lower jaw and exited. The reason: I think the bullet broke the petals and worked like a solid (It's not desirable in my opinion). The PH told me that it happens if you load the bullet at high speed (mine was at 2580 ft/s at 3 metres). And he suggested me these bullets worked better at lower speed (around 2400 ft/s at the muzzle).

Maybe that is not the bullet the buffalo was shot with. Maybe the buffalo was shot twice but the other photo of the tsx has not yet ben posted. Who knows with Warrior, maybe he will post more wrong information? Will two wrongs make a right?

Obviously a typographical mistake was made in the article that was published. It is a Barnes-X instead of the newer TSX version. The good thing is however that the bullet did not lose its petals and it gave sterling performance. The original question calls for an opinion on both the X or TSX version, and the answer is that both of them will perform well.
