BitterrootOverkill, we are shooting 1,000 grains up to 2,300 so far and we are testing our new 1,200 grain lead flat-nose later today. Will give report.
A good hunting velocity for the 700 (.685 actual diameter) 1,000 grain bullet is 2,150 fps +/-

My shoulder hurts just thinking about it

Bitterroot, what do these guns customarily weigh?

CCMDocWell, if you are SAFARIKID, the stocks are helium-filled and overall weight is limited to that of the cartridges loaded in it.

BitterrootDave, the 700 weighs anywhere from 10-1/2lbs. to 20 Lbs. Most rifles are in the 15 lb. range. Very manageable at 15 lbs.

bigdoggy700I think with the heavier versions of the 700, like 17 or 18 lbs you could handle 1200 grain bullets at 2200 ft/second. That brake cuts 40% of the recoil out of the equation.

akalininI'm curious, what is the parent cartridge?

bigdoggy700The 700 AHR, has no paret cartridge. It was designed by Ed and Wayne at AHR.
