Thats the most impractical gimick that i've seen in a long time! I'll take a good old 30/06 ANYDAY. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

It wasn't designed to be practical. The fellow who commissioned it (and a .750JDJ) wanted something larger than anything available at that time. So JD built them. George

That baby has some kick to it for a 50 lb gun. Back in 94 J. D. said they only mad 3 or four actions and would not make him anymore. The action cost about 9,000 back then. Steve moving that 24oo grain bullet at 2100 to 2200 ft/sec is not as big as the 2 bore, but moving a lt faster. I was told that of the next 2 made, one weighed 86 lbs and the third one weighed 110 lbs. I would love to have one if J.D. would drum up about a dozen shells for it. That would fit in my collection quite nicely. I too had not seen the video of it being shot. COOL!! Used to be bigdoggy700 with 929 posts . Originally registered as bigdoggy 700 in July 2006.

The biggest?? They cut case off so power limited. Colin's break action 2bore can outdo that, for energy. The 2bore we are doing will do that weight(2400gr) of bullet at 2800+ in falling block. The 4bore has more energy if you want, due to same base case left full length.Ed MZEE WA SIKU

They are talking about over 20,000 fp energy with this puppy!! I don't think the 2 bore or 4 bore pack that kind of energy?? What do they create at the muzzle?? I recall a conversation with old Fred Wells in his shop one winter, actually Christmas day a number of years ago...he was talking about the 510 Wells at that time....he had clients "Texas Heart Shoot" elephants with the 510 Wells and BRAIN them with the bullet exiting the front of the head!! He had pictures!! Now I wonder what this one could do....!! 470EDDY

4bore does 1500gr at 2700-- 24,000 ft lbs and will do more when put in stronger stock, and get Hogan to shoot it.And 2bore will do same or more with 2400gr. If you cut cases off so that powder column is less than 1.75 inches long, they can't outdo bigger 5" long case. There are some who have loaded up Ken Owen's double 4bores, a 1" bore case full 4" long, to almost 20,000 ft lbs.Same exact case size as our 4bore in falling block. Now the falling block can do much more than break action. We have some of those same cases he had made and the cases we made from 20mm brass.Ed MZEE WA SIKU

HOLY SMOKE,,,no wonder those 4 and 2 bores rock your socks!! I had no idea....!!!!! How much does your 4Bore falling block weigh in at?? Do you have a website or pix you can post of that rifle?? I have been following the development of Clayton Nelson's custom falling block rifles...but don't think owners fire them much...mostly a collectors treasure. 470EDDY

I fired a specimen in 1997, not necessarily the rifle in the video. The one I fired had a black stock and a different brake. George

No, I didn't think to ask for a case. George

I'm suprised some "dufuss" hasn't cut off the buttstock, shortened the bbl, put the whole thing on a tri-pod and claimed he's "Handgun Hunting". J.D. can create about anything you can dream up...!!!
