Gents, I am going to get a 375 Ruger Hawkeye. I also plan on a 300 win. Hawkeye. What difference is there between the Hawkeye and the Mark 11 actions? Roger QSL

I thought the trigger and stock. But, I can't find where I read that. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Beside the different stock design, the new trigger and steel floor plate are about it; from Ruger's web site: "Like the Ruger M77® Mark II rifles, the new M77® Hawkeye® features a Mauser-type controlled feed extractor for reliable performance and a 3-position safety." George ![]()

I've seen a few mk11s on shelves that were purchased on clearance from Ruger. There might be some deals out there on mk11s if you look around.

In addition to the other differences noted above, the Hawkeye's metal work is a non- reflective matte finish, as opposed to the bright, shiny finish on the previous generation MkII's.

I have just brought 2 brand new rifles in Australia for my 458AR and 500AR rebuilds The Hawkeye was a 338 Win mag, the stock is noticably thinner in profile but heavier wood. The Mark 2 was a 7mm Rem mag, it's stock is wider, but the wood is light, very light. The Hawkeye was delivered to me with HIgh mounts, who the hell buys a 338 Win Mag and wants high mounts ? Why would Ruger send High mounts out with large magnums...anyway ! Not many after market scope rings in the new Hawkeye flat black at the momment. Getting new medium or low mounts in flat hawkeye black is a real problem, my new rifle will look crap with a flat action and polished blued rings, OH and the new Hawkeye Ruger Rings are now using (leupold like) torque screws...about time The trigger is different on the hawkeye, not fully adjustable but more easily adjustable. The bolt on the Hawkeye is flat sandblast grey not shinny polished like on the model 2 The finish as stated above is flat black on the hawkeye barrel and action, not shinny blue or purple like the action goes on the mark 2 The kickpad on the Hawkeye is a red color like the model 1 not black anymore The Hawkeye stock now has foreend checkering all the way around, similar to the remington BDL, it is also a lot more "rounder" around the action, I had to recess my cross bolts a fraction because I couldn't shape the cross bolts enough Otherwise, you can drop a Mark 2 action and barrel straight into the Hawkeye stock no problems and visa versa The action inletting is different in one small spot on the Hawkeye but it's not worth mentioning, and doesn't interfer with either action I'm told the barrel on the Hawkeye is from a different source and better quality, but I can't confirm this. Floor plate in the Hawkeye is infact Steel not alloy and is etched with the ruger winged dragon regards S&F
