I'm quite happy w. it, and I'm currently tinkering w. the sights -- have some new, fiber optic ones coming in. Is there anything else? Should I put in a second cross-bolt? Anything else I should watch?

I have a markx 458wm. I restocked mine more in the whitworth style. I did add crossbolts and bedded the action. I liked the sights on mine. I had a problem with the magbox opening when fired had to tinker with the latch.
Mine did well for me on both elephant and buffalo.

Bed it and add a crossbolt. I didn't and broke my stock at the wrist -- I was actually planning on performing these mods, but it broke before I got to it........

I added a fiber optic front sight and "louvered" the sight hood whereby the optic sight was protected, but plenty of light was let in. A three position safety is nice, compared to the chinzy, stamped metal one and that was done.... I had an warthog tusk insert (inverted "V") installed on the face of the express sight. I did not put in an extra cross bolt, but had the action "steel" bedded and haven't had a problem.

A safety would be near the top of my list. I don't like trigger safeties.

I already put a limbsaver on it -- made a huge difference. Anyone know how busy Tip Burns is? My 'smith, whom I trust a great deal, suggested taking it to someone more familiar w. installing a cross-bolt.

If I decide to, is it a good enough action to restock, or should I just have it bedded and "bolted" and buy something better if I decide to have a custom stock done?

Do a search here for crossbolts. Some where there is a very detailed old article on crossbolting a stock. Wink
