I will buy a second barrel for my Sauer Hatari soon - in order to be properly prepared for my planned tuskless and buffalo hunt in Zim Smiler

Caliber will be .416 Rem. Magnum.

I'm thinking about possible soft / solid combinations right now.

Must be factory loads.

In my .375 the Swift A-Frame and the Barnes Banded Solid work just fine.

But I could not find this combination as factory loads for .416 Rem. Magnum so far Confused

Any other recommendations?

Does anyone know where to find all available factory loads for .416 Rem. Magnum in the internet?

Thanks.

rgds,
Andy

I always thought that solids didn't come with a soft point. But the other loads came with SP. I don't know where you can get them I reload all my rounds for all my rifles.

Norma African PH- but this uses a heavier than standard bullet in both soft and solid (Woodleigh 450grn). Otherwise Federal premium do a soft and solid that shoot pretty much to the same point of aim and they do a Barnes TSX as well that shoots ín with the others.

I would also recommend the NORMA PH line in 416 with heavy Woodleighs.
Anyone that makes a load with Swift A Frames would also be worth considering.

Thanks!

The Norma African PH ammunition is (at least in Germany) quite expensive...

I will have a look at the Federal loads.

The Woodleigh soft points are worthless at 2,400 fps out of a 416 Rem Mag.

The cartridge was designed for a 400 grain cartridge, and does very well with that size.

If the Federal company offers Trophy Bonded soft and solid bullets, you would be very well served.

Sincerely,

lawndart

By the way, that is a beautiful rifle.

Order your ammo from Larry Barnett at SUPERIOR AMMUNITION. He can load both the Swift A-Frame and the Barnes solid in .416Rem - he has for me - and he can load so they shoot to the same POI.
Larry loads for many, many PHs and hunters, plus he is a great guy.

Once upon a time, Remington did load Barnes solids for the .416Rem to go along with their Swift A-Frames. I've fired them both and consider them great loads. Unfortunately I don't think they have loaded the solids in many years.
