I just purchased a custom made .416 Rigby. A real beauty. It is in 98%, and judging by the original reciepts from Peter Noreen and the stock builder,I stole it. But what are friends for? It has a Noreen #4 action. I looked for info on the internet but came up empty. Does anyone have any info (good or bad) on Noreen actions. Just curious. Thanks

Noreen sold the action business last year to Karl Webber and a partner, near Spokane, WA. Pete was in Idaho. Karl visited my shop this past Wednesday with a double square bridge action in his briefcase. New name is Hein Action, website is www.rifleactions.com This site was experiencing server problems last night when I tried to access it. (Just checked, the site still has problems, some laser eye surgery site is mixed in with the Hein web page) This is a M70 clone, but with square bridge options, or round bridges, or whatever suits your needs. Pete sold the actions for around $3000 back when he was producing them. I think the new actions will be a little less.

That probably explains why I couldn't find Noreen on the internet. Thanks for the info.

John: Just curious how would you compare the Noreen action with the Dakota action, assuming they both have a round reciever top? Since the price between these two actions is so close that I would imagine most people would perfer the Dakota's for its well established reputation. Any thoughts? Thanks!

There is an article in the Nickudu Files, under Member Offerings, from "STU C", in which the Noreen action was said to be used by Rigby.

thanks for the article. It is good to see those actions used by Rigby and if Karl gets the Gibbs boltface, then maybe we will see even more of them. Also interesting in that the two 450 Rigby rifles were built on Brno actions, aka CZ550! My smith tells me he gets 3 down and reliable exjection with loaded rounds with the cz action, but i think it really needs 0.75inch bolt face and am hoping Karl's actions do the trick. rgds, steve
