I have been looking at photos of classic express rifles and I have been left with some questions. It seems all the express rifles left the stripper clip slots in place. And I have seen photos of large calibers on stripper clips. I am wondering what big bore express rifles were set up for use with stripper clips. Does anyone offer stripper clips for the large calibers? Does anyone have any photos or information or photos of large caliber stripper clips and their use? I would appreciate any info or photos anyone can shed on the subject. FYI – I tried googling “big bore stripper clips†and “Holland & Holland stripper clips†and the search results were not at all what I expected. I believe the 303 Brit has the same rim diameter as a Belted Magnum rim, maybe that would work. The true measure of a hunters skill is not the size of the trophy but rather the length of the shot with the greater measure of skill being the shorter shot---Jeff Cooper

I think there are photos of a.425WR in stripper clips in "Big bore rifles' by Lott. Kynoch furnished several large caliber rounds in stripper clips. Will look through my old copies of Gun Digest for photos. Yackman

The .425 WR however, has a .30-06/8 X 57 M/M diameter rim. It would have been just like the Germans to leave the standard 8 X 57 M/M type stripper clip slot on their magnum Mauser actions. I don't know this is true but, I think it may be that way. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. The only big game rifles I have seen that were issued with stripper clips were A) Mausers in i)9,3x62; ii) 11.2x 73 Schuler b) Westley Richards in .425 W-R I presume the 11.2x60 Schuler/Mauser was also available with stripper clip loading but have never seen one, and saw a 10.75x68 that had the clip feeder wings left on the action. these had been opened up- presumably to take a slightly larger clip, but have never seen any clips for it. Schuler and .425 clips held three rounds whilst the 9,3 held the usual five. I used the clip loading feature on my Mauser quite often when culling. I liked it.

Are there any limits to clip/box mag/revolver capacity in your part of the world since semi-autos are banned...???
