Gday
I was after load data for the 50-110.
Was looking to use 525 or 535grn bullets.
I'm about to have a rifle built and haven't been able to find any load data so far.
The barrel according to the gunsmith is a McGowan marked 1:12 does anyone see a problem with this twist using 535grns or lighter at 50-110 velocities.

HI,

416SW, I had one built by MR. Dave Clay, is yours for black powder or smokeless. My barrel is a badger with a 1:26 twist rate. I did get some reloading data from MR. Sundles from Buffalo Bore Ammo. It is for use in a modern win 86 as these loads are very strong. Thanks,Kev

Kev
Thanks for repling
Haven't actually got the rifle yet, planning on using a Browning mod 71 in 348win for the project or is the Win 86 stronger.
I have got the barrel as mentioned, just received the brass from Starline and have ordered the dies from CH4D, still have to order a reamer.
Will use smokeless powder, was hoping to find a load for 525grn at 2150fps.
What size do you think would be safe for minimum diameter at the nose/meplat? of a flat nose bullet in the tube magazine?
Could you please tell me the loads from MR. Sundles at Buffalo Bore Ammo.
Thanks for any help.
Scott

HI,

The 71 or 86 are really the same, if you look at African Hunting forum you will see my post about a 525 grain in a lever. It will show you data for what you want, I use H4895 starting load is 79 grains and work up to 81.5 grains it will get you to around 2150 fps out of a 20 inch barrel. Thanks,Kev

For that weight bullets you'll need a slower twist barrel than 1:12" to get any accuracy.

I will be using it max distance of 150 yds do you think I will notice a difference?
If so how much?
We are not talking about a bench gun here - but an open sight lever gun.
