yes your right, their sites down, but hmmm, dont think i agree with your other statements-i had some cases from them,.577 snider, bloody well made they were. but,the main thing is,they make cartridges that are made by nobody else in the world! if you have a calibre nobody else has,and nobody else can make it,they can. anyway, was just an address! i couldnt find it myself,so i thought i would help others who had the same problem. easier for me,being from england-norwich,is not very famous outside of england,i dont think. cheers friend.....

im from england originally! now living in italy. but i dont hear of/see much of the 9.3 here at all, everybody here uses 12 guage slugs for wild boar. i understood the 9.3 to be a great round for boar,at least originally. any idea how much they are in your local gunsmith? what are the license laws in denmark? in england they SUCK. really really complex.difficult. i got them though,my firearms and a separate shotgun certificate. do you have any idea how extreme they are compared to so many countries?! cheers friend.

The gun law in Denmark is OK not as leberal as in the US of A But I do own a .500 Jeffery and other big bores, military calibers are no problem either. Slugs are good for big boars if the distance is not too fare. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

sounds great.......but i bet italy has a stricter system. here it is neccesary for one to undergo a test,of species and rifle knowledge, then hunt with a professional hunter for a while. once you have it,sounds ok,(im just about to get my first license here,or at least attempt to!) but i dont know what the law says on zeroing,i mean, whether or not one can just zero on their land,or if it must be done at a range. im hoping to stalk boars, therefore a bit longer range. naturally i will get a 12,and a drilling too. gary, think of yourself as blessed, mate! not only via the nra but also the constitution. i understand though that switzerland has a very similar law for guns, and that sweden is also quite liberal. cheers guys......

Stopper...I do count my blessings. We're far from perfect, but our gun laws, so far, remain pretty good. Actually I live on a bit of property so I can shoot the small stuff (.22 rim., 20 gauge) without a hassle. The bigger stuff I go to a private range that I'm a member of....it's cheap! My family is actually Welsh...I was born in the states and have lived here my whole life. Been all around the world...but never to Wales...crazy, huh? Take care. Gary B.

compared to what we get in europe, you have it great gary,i mean........for my firearms n shotgun certs,i was even asked to give the name of a close friend to a; prove i wasnt a loner. and b; so the police could ring him if they so wished and ask if i am ok for gun possesion! and also, they checked his legal background.(i.e. court appearances etc etc) he was part welsh too,in cornwall, about half my friends were. you see, many people came from wales to mine in cornwall with the cornish. funnily enough,im of irish/english descent, but the celts always seem to stick together huh?! truly, you must go to wales, great place.hunting i think is the same as cornwall was for me though, rabbits and foxes!!!!!!! dont have a lot else, unless your rich, then maybe a few deer also on lord falmouths estate. cheers gary, the names zac..........

Hey Zac, not rich....no castle deer for me! I'm saving for my African trip....maybe this year for my 50th...or next at the latest. The few relatives I have left in Wales are in Cardiff. I really would love to go there....might have to go to Africa through London with a side trip. Great chatting with you, my friend...we'll do it again. Take care. Gary B.

quote: I'm afraid I'm starting to agree with you. My experience has been limited to only the 375 H&H with their offerings, but in short - one lot of ammo groups 2" lower than another! Both lots are of recent manufacture. Same bullet... Same velocity (Oehler 35P). How does that happen? Moreover, I noted in another topic that thier published velocities and pressures for the 375 seem a bit "off." I'll spare you the nitt-gritty, but again, i'm starting to doubt their QC as well.

Their rpoducy controll with the .500 Jeffery is real bad. Davd from Kynamco gave me 100 .50o Jeffery cartridges for FREE and told me that they had been double checked by him personaly. They still gave 25% duds like the first 50 rounds that I tested. It is a great way to test if you got the flinch when shooting A bit expensive though. I shoot them all just to see if they worked They could not be used for hunting any way due to the fact that only 75% worked. They where furthermore loaded too hot and gave a sticky extraction I know that they box looks cool and all but do not buy that product it is not what it used to be I have now shoot more the 200 shoots with my own home loaded cartridges using brass from D Horneber and not a single dud. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

well guys,i have to bow out here as i havent really had much experience of this sort of size of round..... andre' is that the same heym as they made in .600 nitro???????? i have heard bad and good about that gun,at least in the .600........ is it an older or newer model??? cheers chum.....
|
one of us |
Stopper I would say a newer model about 3 years old. The rifle is also made in .600 NE I would not like to have a bolt action that uses a rimmed cartridge. The rifle is a great shooter but some of the details are not top notch. The rear cross bolt can not be removed all the way. And the checkering is not made by hand. Balance in the .500 Jeffery version is perfect and stock construction is also top draw. The best feature is the action, it is very smooth and a real joy to operate. The magazine allows for 4 + 1 in the .500 Jeffery and this is with out Rigby style magazine. All in all the rifle is acceptable. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

hi andre'....... magnum mauser were making the new m98 in .500 jeffery, but it was about 9-10,000 euros. beautiful gun. im still jealous though......... what do you use to hunt boar????? cheers mate.........................zac

The mausern magnum from SIG is not that nice I think. I played around with one at IWA 2004. For 9000-10000 Euros Raimer Johansen can make you something much nicer. Or Harry Balder to for that matter. For the boar hunt in Argentina I will use the .500 Jeffery and a Trail master from cold steel. I like it big. I will use my home-made 500 grn. bullets loaded to about 750 m/sec. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

nice one mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!hehehe going over the top with a .500 jeff for hogs arent ya?! hehehe, sounds like fun though..... i beat your knife though i have a custom made english bowie, 14" blade, thats about 41-42cm just on the blade. bloody thing is too big to use,and im 102kg at 180!!!!!!! should have got a civilised 10" blade............. heard of hambrusch? those are truly beautiful guns,at harsh prices..........ughh. cheers andre'...........................zac

Yes I have heard and spoken to Peter Hambrusch. He can also make youa nice rig but I do not like the style of his rifles. It is too Ferlach. Best bolt action is from Hartmann & Weiss of Hamburg Germany. They know how to make a nice rifle. They have no web site They make guns like in the old days where there was no TV and therefor you might as well work some more in the shop and make it perfect. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

very nice indeed andre',and i know them well..... but the same holland and holland rifle would cost 22,000 pounds sterling, not dollars. but the main group, treat holland as the ultimate....... i reckon maybe the quality is roughly the same though.......hmm. holland and purdey are the guns of kings i guess. cheers matey............................zac

hell andre',theres boar here buddy......! but they're not very big, though one shot 500m from my house was 150kg,which isnt bad! generally they're much smaller here. like 70kg or so. i eat and love the parma ham, salame, etc but thats not the same thing...........!!!! i mean smoked bacon, for frying, bloody hell that bacon is goood, lurpak, isnt that the name? been a long while since i had smoked. tesco used to sell it themselves, from denmark. cheers friend...........russian boar are the ones we want big sods they are. zac.

hi andre',sorry broken pc......... well,we call it danepack or something in england! i ts been a while since i've had any now.......bloody hell. argentina sounds great, hope you have some meat left after hitting those poor hogs with the .500 jeffery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yikes! in my opinion, maybe only mine though,w.w. greener were the best........... once, long ago, they were by far the biggest too. they made great guns, for use.......... i think it was rare to see a greener with much engraving,as generally they went straight to africa or india etc for a tough hunt........ beautiful guns. no mausers though, dont think. just singles, doubles, and shotguns. cheers andre'...........................zac.

Question in regards to reliability of Kynoch ammo: is the problem of "duds" limited to large cases (primer problems?), or have people had misfires in a variety of calibers, such as .375?
|
one of us |
The duds where not due to primer problems but due to the length of the brass. The .500 Jeffery is not a rimed or a belted cartridge and the headspacing length is from the middle of the shoulder and down. If the case is too short the cartridge is pushed forward and not ignited. .375 H&H is very common and getting good quality brass should be easy even for Kynamco But they are way too expensive with ammo, so why buy Kynamco in a easy obtainable caliber. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE
