Alf, I seem to remember "Harti Times" did an article that cover that round or discussed it while talking about the 500

Here's Harald Wolf's email address if you want to contact him: email@hataritimes.com. He's good about answering personal mail, when he's not hunting.

I have the Hatari issue with the photo of the 404 Magnum. Its a 404 case, shoulder moved forward, and minimal body taper. Looks just like the 416 Rem Ultra I am working with. Anyone wanting one, let me know, a 404 Magnum reamer is 4 weeks away. Case forming: Just take the 375 Ultra and neck up. got a box of 500 on the shelf, might have to neck one up today to 404.

There is plenty to be found on the 11.2x72 mm Schuler, which is a .444 or .439 caliber Schuler based on the improved 404 Jeffery case. The 10.75x73 mm DWM = 404 Jeffery. This is often discussed alongside the 11.2x72 mm Schuler, along with a 10.75x68 mm Mauser cartridge for Type A sporting rifles by Mauser exported to the USA in the 1920's. The 10.75x68 mm used a .423 caliber bullet, so it would be like a shortened and improved 404 Jeffery, except the base diameter of the case is a unique 0.459" or 12.57 mm (no rim rebate), shared only by the rarer and never as popular 10.75x63 mm, another Mauser registered cartridge. Thus the 10.75x68 mm Mauser is considerably smaller than the 404 Jeffery (10.75x73 mm) which has a .544" or 13.82 mm base and .537" slightly rebated rim. 404 Schuler is a new one for me. I checked out these sources: Hatari Times International No.11 Speed et al Ken Howell COTW Also the obscure: W. B. Dixon's European Sporting Cartridges 1997, Armory publications, Inc. Edit: I only have six back issues of Hatari Times, starting at No.10, added the No.11 reference above. Any further pointers on a 404 Schuler would be appreciated. BTT And BTW, the November 2003 manMAGNUM has a "Gallery" feature of ALF's "Original 500 Jeffery Rifle" on page 68. Also featured on pp 52-55: .338 Voschol This is a 500 Jeffery necked down to .338, said to out run the .378 Weatherby with 300 grain bullets, and any other .338 bore with any weight bullet. Ho hum.
