500grainsCan you tell us the following:
1. What is the weight of the Impala bullet?
2. What is your objective with the Impala (i.e., high velocity for a flat trajectory, low velocity for low recoil, etc.)?
Thanks.

The weight is 370 grn ( like it says on the package in the picture )

I am going for flat trajectory. And the cool look

I will try some on wild boar.
I was told by Helmut Eller the austrian destributer :
Quote:
Dear Andre',
so far I have shot 108gr and 115gr N540. Velocity was 738 and 766 m/s from
58cm barrel, respectively. I found the load pleasend to shoot and 3 of each
at 50m from a rest(open sights) made a 6-shot group just under 40mm. I had
some 535gr Woodleigh SP loads that chronographed 740m/s and printed some
10cm lower at 50m. Recoil was stiff. Your 113gr N140 load should be similar
to my second load, maybe a bit faster. Still mild. Recently I loaded 125gr
N550 which should be well over 800m/s. Not yet tested. Will use the Impalas
on driven boar this winter.
I also use Fed.215. N140 is OK, go ahead. Vel. of the 113gr load will be
around 2500fps for the 370gr Impala. Over 2700 are possible with max. loads,
but not necessary.
Cheers,
Andr

Impala bullets have no load for the .500 Jeffery
The VihtaVuori N140 has teh same burn rate as Reloader 15
The loads from Helmut(post above) is proven loads.

500grainsAndre,
For such light bullets, I would first chrono the Re15 load to max (either 2700 fps or primers starting to flatten).
Then I would drop back 15-20 grains and try Re12 and work up again to max.
The idea is that a faster burning powder will help you achive higher velocity with a light bullet.
