My friendly UPS driver just delivered to work...and much to my delight there was a parcel from Pac-Nor Folks, this barrel has me excited in more ways than one To someone (me) that thought a 416 Rigby was big this pup is simply beyond words. 5.4lbs of big bore lovin. I'll let the more literate of us wax eloquently when they get theirs, I just wanted to share my joy Thanks again Rob!!! John

I got my barrel tonight and I just finished experimentally fitting it to the action. The barrel is nicely done and guess what, exactly as described. The three grooves look super! So does the chamber! The very very good news is that the go/no go guages that are actually full length cartridges with a keith style bullet machined in by John, feed into the action and even eject really well. It's actually hard to believe that ANY Mauser action could feed these things! They look like a .44 mag on steroids! BIG SQUARE bullet noses not nice rounded ones like we like to use! The feeding is not quite as smooth as a pre-64 M70, but perfectly adequate. This is definately the limit of what can be done on a CZ550 action IMHO. The chamber dimensions seem nearly perfect and I'll make a chamber cast next weekend. I have discovered that the 600 OK rim width needs to be reduced from .066 to .055 for a clean fit of the extractor and the ejector goove widenend to .061 from .050. This really smooths the feeding and ejection. I've communicated this to Dieter Horneber and our cases will have these dimensions. If their half as good as John's guages the 600 OK will be a tremendous success! My action will need .101 inches of the casehead sticking outside the barrel face for correct headspacing (including a .002 crush). The Pac-Nor barrel measured at .094 so the face will need to be machined back .007 inches. That's exactly what Casey and I designed for. The threaded shank measured .623 and my action measured .637 so I will need to move the secondary torque shoulder back .021 to .0215 for clearance, once the face of the barrel has been corrected. After cutting the muzzel brake threads and installing the second recoil lug, thats it, the first 600 OK action is done! Now I need to work on the stock!-Rob [ 01-15-2003, 08:27: Message edited by: Robgunbuilder ]

Congratulations guys! You must be really strong men to shoot something as big as this! Wish I were younger, stronger and in a country that allowed me to shoot something like this! Good shooting!
