In Craigh Boddingtons book "Sfari Rifles"

"When the lion charged from close range, Ronnie managed to hit him twice straight on,both shots going under the chin. He was dead but not stopped: th mauling wasnt serious, but any lion mauling is serious enough. Would thecat have reached him if hed soft points?"

"not stopped" does Craigh mean it is stopping power...?

What to you think guys.......?

Boddington likes to be vague, because he often does not know what he is talking about.

Chin shots are not the best for charging lion. To stop a charging lion at close range, a brain or spine shot will be needed.

Well I believe he meant the Lion was mortally wounded however it was able to complete the charge and chew on the poor soul who missed the Brain and or Spine. However due to the severitys of its wounds it died in mid chomp and said soul lived but had to clean out his shorts!
Dam English language it just has so many meanings.
