DB Bill500/.416 ???
Anyone have any experience with this round in a double rifle? Performance and recoil?

jeffeossoBill,
I am certain you know, but this is a 416 rigby in a double rifle. 400 at 2400. as I consider a rigby's recoil to be mild, i would have to think that the 500/416 would be the same.
great bullets available, and headstamped brass.. why not?

GanyanaPWN from these forums has one and managed a great left and right on two cull bulls a couple of years back. Neither managed a step. Classy, neat and quite impressive- particularly as the 3 bull in the group ran off after taking a hit with a .500 Nitro - didn't go far but still.
DB Bill:
I just picked up a Rigby 500/416 used and will give you a report on recoil etc. I was told by Krieghoff they sell about the same number of this caliber as the 470 with everything else way behind. I was told Westley Richards has some new "best guns" under construction in 500/416 so I think it is catching on.

mstarlingChapuis was kind enough to send their chamber drawings when I enquired about this caliber. Krieghoff verified that it was the one they used. Notes are in French.
I can mail a 226 kb jpeg file to any one that is interested.

Did you buy the one advertised on the Westley Richards website?
