Buying From CDNN Login/Join

I hope this is the right place to ask this...

Well, I think I'm going to take a step into the (not really, I guess) big bores, and pick up one of the M70 Safari Expresses in .375 H&H from CDNN. How long until they put out a new catalog? I am planning on ordering probably on Wed. or Thurs. next week; do you think that the current price will still be good by then? Will I be able to order from them and then have them ship it to my dealer, or do they only do direct business with FFLs? I would like to just do it as a transfer and avoid sales tax if I can. Would they have an option of paying a hand-selection fee for having them pick out one with wood that is on the nicer-looking side? Are they a good company to deal with? Any past experiences?

Avoid the Sales Tax???

I believe that in Illinois you are required to voluntarily pay sales tax on any item that was bought in this manner!

Might as well get the dealer to order it.

Go to Gunsamerica.com. Find a dealer in your area code. There should be several. Contact that FFL holder and tell him you want him to receive a rifle from CDNN. He sends Cdnn his FFL you pay the transfer fee and you pick up the rifle after filling out paperwork!

I have done a transfer with this guy before on a lower, and unless he took the tax out of the transfer fee, I did not pay any, so if I am required to pay sales tax, that is exactly what happened; it was included in the transfer fee.

So Rusty, CDNN will sell to a non FFL and then ship to a dealer?

Edit: I looked at my IL taxes for this year and there is a schedule for a "use tax", which seems like the state sticking their grubby little fingers where they shouldn't. So I guess if I can do it as a transfer, I will just have to pay the use tax on next year's income taxes. Frowner

I belive CDNN will sell to an individual and then ship to an appropriate dealer of ffl holder, they also offer discounts to ffl holders or dealers so if you know someone with an ffl have them call and get the better prices.

"required to voluntarily pay sales tax"

Ya, well, you would be laughing an awful lot if you lived in Dayleyland Chicago Illinois.

If you go to http://www.cdnninvestments.com you can check and see if your catalog is current. If you don have one you can download the latest one. They won't put it on the net; you have to download it. They also have a real-time gun page but I can never remember how to get there.

I was looking at the online catalog; I just wasn't sure if I would be too late by ordering next week. Another question; do I have to worry about the stock splitting on this gun, considering the cartridge and two crossbolts, or should I just have it bedded first thing?

You should be ok waiting a week. They have had that lot in since early last summer.
Ron Darnall at Darnall's Shooting range over by Bloomington, or Dave Barth at Pekin Gun and Sporting Goods over in Pekin will be able to order that in for you.

Enjoy,

I've bought several guns from CDNN. Ask for Jerry, I've talked to a couple other guys there who gave me absolutely incorrect information -they said they didn't have any, Jerry sold me 3 of them the next day. He's looked over a couple things for me without having to pay a hand-picked charge.
You can give them a credit card and pay for something but of course they have to ship to a FFL. I'll buy from them again..............DJ

Thanks, Lawndart, but I have been doing business with Dave's gunshop in Mayview, which is just a few miles down the road from my house. Being in Idaho, how do you know about IL gunshops; or did you just look them up? Thanks for the tip, djpaintles, I'll be sure to ask for Jerry when I call.

I went to high school in Springfield, college in Carbondale, medical school in Springfield and residency in Peoria. I used to shoot at Darnall's and the sporting clays range just east of Bloomington on Route 9.

CDNN has figured out that if you are honest with the customers they will keep buying from them every year, forever.
