I own a Searcy Deluxe .500 NE that I bought 2nd hand but barely used, about a year ago.

It is an 'ejector' model, (my choice) but it was a little anemic on the ejection to suit me.

I sent it to Butch who knew that I was the second owner and asked him to make the ejection a tad stronger.

I got the rifle back today and this is what I want to report:

1) The ejection is AWSOME! The shells go about 5-6'. Just what I wanted.
2) He tightened up the forearm and the forearm metal contact with the frame.
3) Cost to me...........just shipping Cool

This was already an extremely accurate rifle that I can't wait to shoot again to see if the tightening makes any difference.

When one buys one of his rifles, (as you know) you talk to the maker himself and when there is something that needs to be done, you talk to the same person. You don't get that with other doubles, as far as I know.

There are no words that can describe this type of commitment to a product and customer support other than OUTSTANDING.

Regards,

I'm glad to see such acknowledgement of one's work....too often we only lament the inadequacies of others(talk to my wife for clarification), but we usually do not put forth when something is done beyond our expectation. I thank you for the insight into Butchs' commitment to excellence, and will be sure to make my 'double' a Searcy for these very reasons.

A too am the second (or third) owner of a Searcy DR. The rifle shoots very well ... 2" at 100 yards. Way better than I can see, and way better than I had hoped for.

I reported earlier that I had a light rear trigger. Let me be clear it NEVER doubled, but it was a bit light. When I measured the pull I was a bit shocked to find that it was lighter than 2 pounds.

Just to be safe I sent Butch a note asking what it would cost to have it adjusted. He replied that the only cost would be for shipping.

I send it, it was returned. Both triggers are now just over 3 pounds and as crisp as breaking a microscope slide. Has held nicely since the adjustment. Just perfect.

Needless to say, I too am very impressed with Mr. Searcy's product and the support of his product.

That is one of the best product advertisements/endorsments there is in my book..........someone who stands behind their product - even to the point beyond the call of duty. That's part of the reason I also ordered a Searcy and that's why I buy Leupold scopes. I wish more companies could see the true value in standing behind their products!

Sometime ago on the Nitro Express forums there was some criticism of Searcy guns and service and I invited an acknowledged British expert to give his opinion on them. He did, anonymously, but in such glowing terms that the above experience does seem typical. Congratulations to the Searcy company and to everyone who has the fine judgement to buy their guns. beer

Come on BUS, get off some of that moldy old money, and buy yourself a real rifle!

Butch has always been that way, it is his nature, not a business move! What ever the reason we benefite. I'm waiting to see one of those slim little 450/400 3" doubles I keep hearing about! thumb
