Have a chance to pick up an African Express in 375 NIB. I was wondering if anyone has one and their experience with it. Also was wondering what you might think is a fair price to pay. Thank You Jim

I believe this is the older push feed rifle, if that makes a difference to you. I sold one about 2 years ago for $425 and it was in excellent condition. Hope that helps. Roi

This is the top line from the Custom Shop. In the catalog they call it the "Custom African Express". Thanks Jim

gal My Model 70 Custom Safari Express, in .416 Rem. Mag. handles and shoots very well. I ordered it out of the Custom Shop and have been very pleased with it. They retailed at about $2800 in 2002. I also have a standard Mod. 70 Classic Safari Express in .375 H&H and it shoots well also but there is a lot of difference in the rifles. CFA

The Custom African Express is Winchesters best grade custom gun. They are custom fit to the owner, hand assembled and checked for feed and function. They list for about $4500.00 US. They also have the extended magazine that adds an extra round in the magazine. I have one-- took about 1 year to get it made. I am very happy with it.

CFA: Interesting comment about the classic vs. the custom Mod. 70. I'm going to get a Mod. 70 in 375H&H, but can't decide on classic or custom. Is the custom worth the extra money and want are the differences? Thanks for the help. Gary T.

Gary If you are looking at a Custom African Express instead of the Custom Safari Express that I have then there is even more difference from the standard express. As was said it has an Obendorf style floorplate and stock modifications that allows one more round to be loaded. It should have better wood than my rifle, however the wood on mine is beautiful. To sum up the differences they have a match grade barrel and a hand honed and lapped action, floated barrel and bedded action, and shoots great right out of the box. For comparison I had a gunsmith do the above without the match grade barrel to get the standard to shoot almost like the Custom But it still does not have the nice wood. I believe the custom is worth it, particularly the Custom Safari Express but thats just my opinion. Fred
