Well 500 grains is full of sheep dip. All a gun needs to do is meet the requirements of the law. After that its simply personal choice. The 50 Alaskan meets those requirements with ease as does the 510 kodiak express and the 416 Barnes. I would like to see some one dumb enough to pull the trigger on a 577 lever gun. LMAO

Scotts, the problem is the length of the action. This is why I had a 50-110 on a win 86 or 71.They have a longer action than a Marlin, the 50-110 is as long as one can go with a lever, as far as I know.I know this round would work on everything as it meets and exceeds the requirements of a DR round. I will have over a .3 Sd I will be at 2150 or more fps, I will be over 5,000 ME, I will have a bullet weight over 500 grains.The other problem and here I think many in the African forum have a point. The action itself, reliable, a control feed with claw are very dependable, now here I think they,bolt, over-all to be more reliable than a lever. I hope I do not caught hell with this, I do love levers. The new rounds in 50 cal in the levers that I see alot more now I think will make the levers strong enough for anything"with in there range".The question will be with reliable action?,and here one will have to be 100% sure it will work every time.One more thing as I think of it,is the bullets, most levers go with HC and here is another problem one could make ,how well will it hold upwith HC that could depend on alot. I just started to buy Woodeigh 600 PPSP .510 and have been cutting off the tops to make a flat nose and will also make a new cannelure on them. I have the weight at around 550-560 and they will work through my lever. I will start loading them up soon and they give me the same space in my case as my 525HC that I get 2200fps with. I will have to see, but I think I am going to get 2150-2200fps, but talk is cheap,Kev
