465H&H that posts here has used them. I have only used them on dangerous paper targets. Depending upon what is defined as the Lott with 500 gr. bullets, say 2300 fps, I used highly compressed loads of IMR 4320 to get there, and then.... To get the same muzzle energy, the 550's need to be going about 2200 fps. This was easier to obtain with IMR4320 than getting 2300 fps with 500 gr. bullets because, as it finally dawned on me, that with compressed loads, bullet density is greater than powder density. .... And one can get more powder more easily into the case with heavier bullets, as in this situation less powder is required to get equal muzzle energies for the heavier bullets. Is there a emoticon for Eureka? ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne.
