CEB Solids and NonCons on order Login/Join

I ordered some of the 480 grain solids and 450 grain Non Cons in .457 caliber to load up in my 450 Dakota. They should be here today or tomorrow! Very excited. (I also ordered some of the .223 NonCons to play with too).

Currently I am loading Barnes Banded solids in 500 grain with 107 grains of H4350. This is a compressed load. I am also loading 500 grain Swift A frames with 105 grains of H4350.

Both of these are getting me around 2400 FPS and good groupings.

I am thinking that I should start off with 100 to 105 grains of H4350 with the CEB bullets. Thoughts?

Rob,

From Michael458's and srose's work including pressure testing as well as my own experience with CEBs in a variety of calibers, the CEB bullets generate about the same velocity (and pressure per Michael and Sam's testing) as the same load (powder and charge) using same-weight Woodleighs.

I would start using load data for similar weight Woodleigh bullets and work up from there. From my load data, 105 grains of H4350 behind a 480 grain Woodleigh would be a good starting point so would probably be just as good/safe behind a 480grain CEB solid.

Stay well and stay safe,
Paul

Excellent, Thanks

I am really hoping my rifle likes these as I want to use them next year in Zim for Buff.

No Man, just go ahead with the same load you are using with the BBW#13s. Maybe drop a grain just to be ultra safe, but really not needed. Pressures will be less than what you are getting with the other bullets, I am confident of that. You will be fine.

As far as your gun liking them? I have yet to meet a rifle that would not shoot them, and far better than most all other things. I suspect yours will do the same. I also have a run of 480s and 450s coming! I have run completely out here.

Lionhunter and his pal Carl took all I had and they are using the same bullets in their 458 Lotts for elephant and buffalo right now. They are in country and I suspect hammering down.

Keep us posted

Michael

Thanks Micheal!

Can't wait to get the bullets. I was hoping to be loading last night, but they have not arrived yet. Maybe tonight
