One of these just sold in the classafied. i think it is worth more that it sold for.. Did they make some of these or do you think this was a re-barrel....Tks Maddog Joshua 24:15 www.teamfaithfull.net / My granddaughter "Multitudes loose the sight of that which is, by setting their eyes on that which is not".

Strictly a guess...it was a rebarreled .375 H&H. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

Showbart has a .416 Interarms that appears to be a factory job. I also have a Whitworth in .416, but alas, mine is a converted .375....... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." I'm sure no expert but I thought the only long (3.6") magnum that Interaqrms imported was the 375. Showbart called it a rebarrel. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Is Showbart the one selling it? Maybe I should check the classifieds....... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Yes, he was the one who listed it. It did take a day or so to sell. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

It was probably a whitworth African express, that had it's 375 H&H barrel re-bored, to 416, and re-chambered to the 416 Rem Mag. In my opinion, all it did was ruin a good 375H&H! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Mac, Mac, Mac, now, now, nothing wrong with converting a Whitworth/Interarms Mark X to .416 Rem! As everyone on this forum knows, you can have way more fun with a .416 than a .375! I have just such a converted Whitworth and it's my favorite rifle, hands down! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." I've got nothing against the 416 Rem Mag cartridge, it is just that I hate to see a whitworth Safari Express rifle changed from it's origenal chambering, since they aren't available any longer! In future years, folks will be looking hard to find them in origenal unaltered condition. They aren't collector items now, but they will be! I have two Whitworth Safari 375H&H rifles, and they are my favorite bolt rifles, as well! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Here is one on Gunbroker. Has a Douglas barrel and an ugly stock. Would be good for the great white north!

Waffle pad and camo plastic stock -- a classic! Nice to see it includes "rifle sights." ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I like the maryjane camo pattern. Just the thing to shue the bears out of the pot patch. "There always seems to be a big market for making the clear, complex."

Less than 40 minutes to go on this "unique" 416...reserve not yet met. Plastic stock .416... ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

High bid was $650. That is what I paid for my early Whitworth in original configuration. Just goes to show As a general rule, people are nuts!

I never seem to find those great $600 Whitworths... And you do not have one in .416 (with goofy camo no less!). ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

JudgeG turned me onto mine a couple of years ago. Of course I had to add a 3 pos. safety and replaced the stock using the original for a pattern. I'll post some pics when Bill Soverns gets done scratching on it.

I am sure it will look nice (actually I imagine very nice) when it is done. If I add up what I've spent and will spend on my Whitworth .458 and my Interarms .375, the little more I spent to get them is not relevant. I went over to the dark side and supposedly have a Model 70 on the way for my .416. Yes, this Interarms would have been cheaper, but after you change the safety, stock, recoil pad, barrel band, etc. and fix any other little issues, maybe not. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

How funny! The 416 I am having built is also on a Win. It will be my first 70.

I have a pre-64 Featherweight in .243 and a Model 54 in 9.3x62 -- both very slick. This one is a Model 70 Classic action and we shall see how I like it. The stock is not as nice or trim as my .458 but we will see how it feels. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

Mine is a 70 classic. It was a 300 wm. I stripped it to the reciever. Shilen barrel and Sunny Hill drop box mag. For a stock I found a British express rifle stock for the model 70 with the drop box in GAG's bargain bin. I am using it for a pattern.

I had an original Whitworth in 300 Weatherby Mag. It's now a 500 Jeffery. I found it as a fluke, but there it was in full factory glory (i.e. not a rebarrel). I wish I could find an official list of all the calibers the Whitworth series were chambered in. Garrett
