I'm sure many have seen the 505 Gibbs on Gunsamerica. I know the basic details on the Remington 30 express action, but I don't have first hand experience with it. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

in an enfield, 1917, that remington had the actions left over after wwII. they made it into a great sporter, it is very desirable. jeffe

Like Jeffe said, a finely made, large action suitable for long, fat cartridges:

Basically, if you can find one, they are great for building a big bore like a T-Rex or 600 OK on. The rings are nicely finished and the action is already converted to cock on open. Many of the late ones were also drilled and tapped for a scope, but not the early ones. I've seen many of the early ones on Gunbroker for sale that had been D&T'd by the owners and swiss -cheezed. Stay away from these. Many were also D&T'd for side mounts and it's nearly impossible to properly TIG weld one back to original without warping the action! A Rem Model 30 in a non-collector state will typically go $350-400 and in a collector gun $500 and up. I'm still looking for a Model 720 which was the best of the best of these guns!-Rob
