I just took a box of factory Hornady Superformance 375 H&H ammo loaded with GMX bullets to the range for the first time. The first shot, no problem. The second shot, the neck split. Thought it was a one off situation. The third shot, the neck split again. Stopped and ended my shooting. Has anyone else had this happen with Hornady ammo? LRich Hook em Horns

Sounds like an annealing problem. Either that or somebody put a 416 barrel on your rifle and didn't tell you. Have gun- Will travel The value of a trophy is computed directly in terms of personal investment in its acquisition. Robert Ruark

Blacktailer, you are correct. Just talked to Hornady and they confirmed the problem. They say they have fixed the problem and are replacing the ammo. Thanks Hook em Horns

I had some Remington factory 357 back in the 70's that split on the second firing. For a poor collage student that was hard to take.

Had the same problem with two boxes of Hornady .458Lott a few years back, 34 cases split on firing.

Hornady service department replaced the 1 box and sent a second one for free. Very good customer service. And the necks of the replacement ammo didn't split. Hook em Horns
