So what would you guess the effects on game out to 200yds with be if you lost 100/200 fps off those numbers using the best of the current .375 bullets?

Is 2375 fps good enough on Buffalo under 75 yards?

Considering I shoot just about everything with a 9,3 which uses a bullet of the same SD as the 375 but going at 2380fps at the muzzel. Never had a buffalo not die in short order when shot with my 9,3...or elephant, or lion...

RBD...I use woodleigh solids- for elephant and hippo.
Soft points I use Stuarts but am VERY happy with the new swift 286grn. The woodleigh softs are not buffalo medicine at anything over 2300fps...they are in the same category as the Norma Oryx- perfect for lion and ok on eland but not buff.

I shoot all my plains game with a rather mild load of 270grn speers at 2300fps.

For clients I normally recomend they use solids on the tiny ten if they are just bringing their dangerous game rifle.

From a .375 you have way more case capacity and high pressure limits so you can use the barnes TSX or Swifts or Northfork for buff

The Barnes are too hard for lion and Haven't had a client try the northfork sp on them. The Swifts are ok for for most things- especially from a .375 where the big hole makes up for limmited expansion when you hit a soft animal like an impala.

Those are my numbers from a 24" 375/06 so long shanked bullets aren't very useful. Forgot just how good the 9.3x62 can be. Thanks.

So for buff it sounds like you have a choice of Swift A frame 300grn at 2375fps

Or if you are pushing them fast, use the Protected Point bullets over the SN.

The 300gn's don't quite need the velocity
as the bullet weight really makes them penetrate.
Well, that is what I have seen on Buffalo (Water)
and I've shot a fair few with the 375H&H.
