Well I don't know about the rifles but while walking through the Sporting Goods section at our local WalMart I found several boxes of Federal .375 H&H ammo on the shelf. Too shocked to note the bullet weight or type but they were under $30.00 per box. Wonder if they had shooting sticks somewhere I missed

Maybe this is an attempt by Wal-Mart to try to capture the niche market of extremely budget minded safari types? I can see it now . . . a Sam Walton memorial gun room in NYC filled with lots of Ruger RSMs (I actually love these), synthetic stocked Remingtons in .375 and 30-06, and stacks of core-lokt ammo. George, Let me guess . . . Redneck DGR = Marlin 45-70? 475, Something tells me there are outdoor markets in and around Cairo that would put a Super Wal Mart to shame when it comes to selection. Probably easier top find a Maadi Ak-47 in Cairo than at a Sam's Club. Best, JohnTheGreek

John remember my ol' saying... "You might be a Redneck if....... Your DGR is a Marlin Guide Gun." That one sometimes gets the Marlin Talk boys runnin over here.

Wells, gash, we used the old Sthil reciprocating "psuedo chainsaw" to split the back bones of deer, wild hogs, and feral cattle we shot in the swamps. And my DGR for those charging Brahma Scrub Bulls in the Georgia coastal swamps was a 1886 in 45-70. Cuz used a 30-30 M94 and got in a heap of trouble a few times with the scrub bulls. And my favorite skinning knife was made from a chunk of L-6 band mill saw blade, complete with oak handle. Unk called me "John Boy" and he called cuz "Little Bubba" So, I 'supose I pass the red neck qualifier. However, we were proud and, living on the salt water tidal coast of Georgia, we did not call ourselves redneck. Redneck was reserved for the way back folks living in SW Georgia, around Plains, home of Jimmy "Catah". Seemed their necks were always sunburned red from the hours of riding the tractors in the peanut fields.

In California there is diddly squat at Walmart for firearms. they stopped selling them a while ago and haven't picked it back up again. So I just called and they are supposed to forward my message to the store manager. I said that no store in Fresno area (we have like 5 I think)is carrying firearms and they say it is because they need training. (granted, Kalifornia is shit for laws and a pain in the ass do sell guns in). I told her that they are losing that business which seems a bad decision with their stake in Remington. I also told her it was silly. I suggested that they need a firearms aficionado like myself to take over the sporting goods division in California and make sure that they could sell guns again and do it right. So never fear, if I get called and offered a job one thing I will push for is the inclusion of big bores in the lineup. :-) probably going to be like my offer to Kruger National Park offering to pay all my expenses and come over to help thin the elephant population, I'll never hear anything. go figure....
