Saw a 375 H&H advertised as a Whitworth Express but it doesn't have a barrel band or express sights.

quote: Unless they have simply been removed, it is not a Whitworth Express! If it has screw holes for the Island Express sight, and for front sight and is stamped Whitworth on top of the reciever ring, and on the left side of the action stamped with the Interarms, and the CZ logos, and MANCHESTER ENGLAND. The hole spaceing for the rear Island express sight is 2.2" , and the spaceing for the front sight is 2" There should be a recoil lug on the bottom of the barrel about 5" out the bottom of the barrel. If any of these measurements, or the stampings are missing, then what you have is a MARK-X actioned rifle. It could be an Interarms ALASKAN, or a Churchhill Express, both these were made on the Mark-X action. These rifles had nothing to do with WHITWORTH, but were barreled actions finished, and stocked in the USA. There is nothing wrong with the rifle you are looking at, however, it is just that it needs a few things to make it into a real DGR! ------------------

A damned good one, at that! If the price is reasonable, snap it up. Most of the changes you will need will either be a bit fiddly or not too expensive. Sarge
