Howdy, George.

Your comment on "very reduced loads" provoked another thought, namely I don't use fillers with any charge that occupies very much over half of the case volume, as I believe a charge that size doesn't move around enough to give major variations.

One thing that impresses me is the sheer number of powders that work well with cast bullets in cases the size of the Rigby. My RCBS design (416-350) bullets weigh 365 grains, and easily reach full Rigby velocity of 2400 fps or thereabouts even with some charges that barely fill half the case volume. If I'm just plinking at 2000 fps, there are LEGIONS of powders that will do the job.

This is a wonderful cartridge, I have to say (no news there, for sure!). With 300-grain X bullets at 2950 or cast bullets poking along at 1300, or anywhere in between, this cartridge simply WORKS. It has become a real favorite of mine. Also, anything shot with it danged well STAYS shot!

Thanks, Bruce. If I ever shoot any very reduced loads in my big bores, I'll be sure to try this.
